Privacy Policy

This Privacy Policy explains how the WhoAski mobile application, the related WhoAski website, and connected services collect, use, store, and disclose information.

This policy is intended to support public disclosure requirements, including Google Play privacy policy expectations, for the WhoAski Android application.

What the app does

WhoAski lets people create accounts, post content, share memories, upload media, send YooOut cards, manage contacts and friends, chat, and receive activity notifications.

Main data categories

The service may process account details, user-generated content, contact and relationship data, communication data, session data, and device-level access granted by the user for features like media capture and notifications.

Child safety standards

WhoAski publishes a separate child safety standards page that explicitly prohibits child sexual abuse and exploitation (CSAE), grooming, and any content or conduct that endangers children. Read the public standards.

1. Information We Collect

  • Account and registration data such as full name, email address, password, gender, date of birth, and similar profile information that you choose to provide.
  • Profile and social data such as member ID, profile photo, contacts, friend requests, recipients you select, and relationship metadata created through the service.
  • User content such as posts, comments, books, events, YooOut cards, chat messages, captions, tags, files, photos, videos, audio recordings, and other content that you upload or create.
  • Technical and session data such as session identifiers, cookies needed for authentication, device notification preferences, locally cached content, and diagnostic information needed to keep the service working.
  • Support and contact data when you submit a password reset request, contact the service, or send privacy or deletion inquiries.

2. Permissions and Sensitive Access

  • Camera access may be requested when you choose to capture photos or videos inside the app.
  • Microphone access may be requested when you choose to record audio comments or other audio content.
  • Photo, video, audio, or file library access may be requested when you choose existing media or documents from your device.
  • Notification permission may be requested so the app can display local message or activity notifications.

WhoAski requests these permissions to deliver the feature you select. If you deny a permission, the related feature may not work correctly.

3. How We Use Information

  • To register accounts, sign users in, maintain sessions, and secure access.
  • To create, host, display, deliver, and organize user content and YooOut features.
  • To power messaging, friend requests, inboxes, contacts, and notifications.
  • To provide support, prevent abuse, investigate misuse, and protect the service.
  • To operate embedded website-based screens or related web content that may rely on cookies and similar technologies.
  • To comply with legal obligations and enforce service rules.

4. When Information May Be Shared

  • With other users, to the extent required by the features you use and the audience or privacy settings you select for your content.
  • With service providers that support hosting, storage, content delivery, messaging or realtime infrastructure, security, email, website technologies, or similar operational needs.
  • When required by law, regulation, court order, or valid legal process.
  • As part of a merger, acquisition, financing, or asset transfer, subject to applicable law.

WhoAski does not state an intent to sell personal information.

5. Retention

  • Account information and user content may be retained while an account remains active and for a limited period afterward when needed for backups, legal compliance, abuse prevention, dispute handling, or legitimate operational needs.
  • Session data, cached files, drafts, and preferences may also be stored on the device until they expire, are overwritten, are cleared by logout, or are removed by uninstalling the app.

6. Security

WhoAski uses reasonable administrative, technical, and organizational measures to protect information. Examples may include encrypted transport over HTTPS, secure device storage for credentials and session details, and access controls. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure.

7. Your Choices

  • You may choose what content to upload and which people receive it.
  • You may log out to clear the active stored session from the app.
  • You may request account deletion and deletion of associated personal data, subject to data that must be retained for legal or legitimate operational reasons.

8. Account Deletion

If you want your account deleted, please use the public deletion page: delete-account.html.

Deletion requests should include the email address associated with the account and enough identifying information to verify ownership. Certain records may be retained when legally required or necessary for fraud prevention, security, or dispute resolution.

9. Children

WhoAski is not intended for children under 13, or any higher minimum age required by local law. Do not use the service if you are not old enough to lawfully do so.

10. Changes To This Policy

This policy may be updated from time to time. Material updates will be reflected by posting the revised policy at this public URL with a new effective date.
